Council Accomplishments 2020-2023

Minimized Municipal Tax Increases:
2021:  .27% decrease
2022:  .89% increase
2023: 1.35% increase
2024: 2.92% increase
Average annual tax increase over 4 years:  1.22%
 
* Negotiated a 5 year labor contract for 2% annual salary increases for police, DPW and administration  
* Renovated Riverside Park with grant money, improved Neil Gylling Park, and received a grant for renovating CO Johnson Park from the Highlands Council  
* Introduced natural gas service to Byram for the first time  
* Continued economic development along Route 206  
* Saved residents money with electricity aggregation deal  
* Received grant from Highlands Council for Lake Management Plan  
* Established new Trails Management Committee and conducted first-ever timber sale  
* Maintained all government services during the pandemic  
* Received grant from Sussex County for trails improvement  
* Completed all design and engineering for renovated Municipal Building  
* Banned pot shops within Byram and “dirty dirt” dumping  
* Updated police and DPW fleets for improved safety and road/fields maintenance  
* Entered into multiple shared services agreements (with Andover, Hopatcong, Netcong, Sparta, and Sussex County)  
* Established sports equality for all boys and girls teams, so that every sport receives equal field access, field lining services, and scheduling  
* Maintained our AA+ credit rating with responsible long-term fiscal management  
* Delivered a 10 year Open Space Plan fully funded by a Highlands grant
